Workshop: Greener Touring

Workshop: Greener Touring

Wednesday 4 March, 14:00 - 15:00

Hosts:
Claire O’Neill, A Greener Festival / Green Events & Innovations (UK)
Tanner Watt, Reverb (US)

With touring the lifeblood of the live music business, this workshop outlines ways to make it more sustainable. In the last 12 months we've experienced devastating fires, floods, migration and political turmoil. We've also experienced a sea-change for collective action around the music business, with artists such as Coldplay, Massive Attack and Billie Eilish speaking out; new action groups emerging such as Music Declares Emergency; and AEG 1 Earth and Green Nation announcing their climate objectives. While festivals and outdoor events are a long way down the sustainability track, day-to-day touring has a long way to go. Following on from the Green Events & Innovations Conference, which takes place the day before ILMC, this workshop summarises what tools and help are available, what methods and initiatives are already in place, and how artists, venues and production can do more.
