The rollout of 5G, the fifth generation of wireless technology, presents a mountain of new possibilities for live shows, be that fan engagement; marketing and promotion; or show production. While it’s up to 100 times faster than 4G, it’s 5G’s huge connection possibilities that should most excite the business – 1 million users per square kilometre (compared to just 4,000 with 4G. From instant connection between production kit, bands and fans, to AR-enhanced shows, data-heavy marketing possibilities, and shows live-streamed to millions of homes simultaneously, it’s a whole new ballgame. This workshop presents an early glimpse of this new reality.
